When it's hot and humid outside, it feels like the wrong time of year to crochet Fall and Winter items, but it's something that I have to start on as I'm gearing up for craft fairs.
It's been awhile since I've shared one of my patterns, but with vacations and my kids' busy schedules, I haven't been home very much lately. But now I'm back! And I'm sharing one of the many things I'm working on for some of the fairs I'll be doing.
Boot cuffs are a fun fashion accessory and I've been on a Santa kick so I figured, why not make Santa boot cuffs! They are super simple to make and really don't take all that long.
Worsted yarn - Red, Black and White (Pictured - Red Heart Super Saver Cherry Red and Black, Vanna's Choice in White)
Bernat Pipsqueak in Whitey White
Vanna's Glamour in Topaz
Small: 11-12 in. around (40 rows)
Medium: 13-14 in. around (46 rows)
Large: 15-16 in. around (52 rows)
Pattern is written for small size, with larger sizes in parenthesis. Beginning chain does not count as a stitch. Begin each round in the same stitch as your join.
Row 1: Chain 11, sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and in each across, turn (10 sc)
Row 2: Ch. 1, working in back loops only, sc across, turn (10 sc)
Repeat row 2 for a total of 40 (46, 52) rows
Place the first and last rows together and slip stitch them together
You will now begin working in the round
Round 1: Ch. 1, sc evenly around, join - 40 sc (46, 52)
Round 2: Ch. 1, sc around, join black in last stitch before the join
Round 3: Ch. 1, sc around the front post of each stitch around, join - 40 sc (46, 52)
*You can do regular single crochet stitches. I feel working around the posts makes a cleaner line
Round 4: Ch. 2, hdc in each stitch around, join
Round 5: Ch. 1, sc in each stitch around, join red in the last stitch before you join
Round 6: Ch. 1, sc around the front post of each stitch around, join - 40 sc (46, 52)
Round 7: Ch. 2, hdc in each stitch around, join
Round 8: Ch. 1, sc in each stitch around, join, fasten off
For the white fur trim, you will work with 1 strand of white and 1 strand of Pipsqueak.
Join the white yarns in any stitch along the top of your cuff. Ch. 1 and sc around. Join to the first stitch and fasten off.
For the buckle, take a long strand of Vanna's Glamour (about 12 inches). You will work in the black stripe along front of the cuff. Using your tapestry needle, make a few stitches (I did 4) between rounds 3 and 5. Repeat across 3 or 4 stitches for the top of the buckle. Make a few stitches between rounds 3 and 5 for the other side of the buckle and repeat across 3 or 4 stitches for the bottom of the buckle.
I hope you enjoy these cuffs as much as I do. Happy hooking!
